This safari starts and finishes in Kigali. This trip takes you for gorilla tracking in all the three countries that protect the mountain gorillas. [3 gorilla permits are included in the cost of the tour]
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup from the Airport or Hotel
Kigali City Tour – Visit the Genocide Memorial Sites, Local Market, Caplaki. After the tour, drive to Lake Kivu shores. Dinner and overnight stay at Discover Guest House (Budget) / Paradise Malahinde Guest House (Midrange) / Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (Luxury).
Day 2: Travel to Virunga National Park in Congo
Have breakfast and after cross to Congo – Virunga National Park, the oldest park in Africa and the second oldest in the world. The Virunga National Park protects the mountain gorillas and it is the pioneer for gorilla tourism. Dinner and overnight stay at Mikeno Lodge or Bukima Tented Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 3: Go for gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park, Congo. After the trek, return to Goma and Gisenyi. Have lunch and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. O/N: Muhabura Hotel (Budget) Hotel La Palme/Lebambou Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) /Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB)
Day 4: Go for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park. After the gorilla trek have lunch. In the evening go for Ibywacu Cultural Experience. O/N: Muhabura Hotel (Budget) Hotel La Palme/Lebambou Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) /Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB)
Day 5: Go for Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park. Cross over to Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park via the Cyanika Border. En-route visit to the Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. O/N: Travellers Rest Hotel
Day 6: Explore Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Either guided nature walk in Gahinga or climb a volcano. In the evening go for a visit to the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores. Lunch in Kisoro. O/N: Rushaga Gorilla Camp/Nkuringo Gorilla Camp (FB).
Day 7: Go for Gorilla tracking in Southern Bwindi. After the trek, have lunch and transfer Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful places in Uganda. O/N: Bunyonyi Bird Nest Lodge/Arcadia Cottages/Lake Bunyonyi Cottages (FB)
Day 8: Enjoy morning boat cruise along Lake Bunyonyi. Have Lunch and Leave for Kigali in Rwanda traveling via the Katuna Border.
